Web Site: |
Beginning in October 2002, ASA took a definitive step
into the future of electronic information distribution
with the completion of a thorough overhaul of its
Web site. Although the added graphics and new color
schemes will be the first differences Web users will
notice, the changes are anything but cosmetic.
For the first time ever, ASA Annual Meeting registration
was available online this year, and an impressive
2,575 attendees registered through the Web site. The
Web site also offered members the capability to download
Annual Meeting information onto their personal digital
assistants. Both of these features will undoubtedly
become more popular with each passing year.
Users do not have to wait until the 2003 Annual Meeting
to reap the benefits of the new site, however. A radically
improved search engine brings the information you
need to your computer screen in seconds with greatly
improved accuracy. The Calendars for Meetings section
offers the most comprehensive listing of anesthesiology-related
meetings, events and courses available anywhere —
all available and tailored to your individual needs
at the click of a mouse.
The revamped Web site offers vastly superior functionality,
a more intuitive structure and is graphically pleasing,
but there is always room for growth and improvement.
Since ASA activities are member-driven, additional
enhancements to the site will be added as users provide
feedback regarding what works and what needs more
work. ASA Web Administrator Anita Abbatacola and the
rest of the ASA staff look forward to the ongoing
building process that will create a Web site that
meets the needs of our growing and changing Society.
