2003 PBLD Program — Open Call for Case Submissions

Meg A. Rosenblatt, M.D., Chair
Committee on Problem-Based Learning Discussions

The 2002 Problem-Based Learning Discussion (PBLD) Program consisted of 127 cases that were selected from more than 200 submitted during the open-selection process. Attendees enjoyed the interactive nature of the sessions, and moderators were excited by the number of participants who prepared for their sessions by using the recommended bibliographies or by their own initiative. All available tickets for the PBLD sessions were sold! The Committee on PBLD again wishes to continue the open-call process, which has led to the vibrant nature and ultimate success of the PBLD program.

Any active member of ASA is invited to submit a PBLD case to the committee for review and possible selection for the 2003 ASA Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California. We are continually looking for new and controversial topics, true cases that contain diagnostic and treatment enigmas and areas where content gaps exist in the current program.

For the 2003 program, all cases will be reviewed by members of the committee for relevance, content, scholarship, conformity to the guidelines that appear on the ASA Web site and clarity of the presentation. All cases must be submitted online in the Annual Meeting section on the ASA Web site at <www2.ASAhq.org/pbld.asp>.

The deadline for submission of PBLD cases is 12 midnight CST on February 14, 2003.
