Las Vegas
Monorail to Make Searching the Strip a Snap
|
s
of July 15, 2004, visitors to Las Vegas were given
the option of getting around The Strip on the world’s
most advanced public transportation system, the Las
Vegas Monorail. This $650-million rail system runs
the entire length of The Strip and costs only $3 per
person one way and $5.50 for a round trip.
This state-of-the-art, driverless, electric rail system
is expected to ease congestion around Las Vegas’
busiest attractions and offer a safe, quick and convenient
transportation option to visitors. The monorail reaches
speeds of up to 50 miles per hour and can complete
its entire four-mile route in as little as 14 minutes.
Station stops are located along the four-mile route
at the Sahara Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas Hilton,
Las Vegas Convention Center, Harrah’s/Imperial
Palace, the Flamingo/Caesar’s Palace, Bally’s/Paris
Las Vegas and the MGM Grand. Tickets can be purchased
at vending machines located inside each station and
at station properties.
The monorail will run 365 days a year from 6 a.m.
to 2 a.m. Each air-conditioned train seats 72 riders
with standing room available for an additional 152
riders. Almost 20 million people are expected to use
the system each year.
Plans are already in the works to expand the monorail
to connect to downtown Las Vegas and McCarran International
Airport. For more information and the latest news
on the Las Vegas Monorail, visit <lvmonorail.com>
