Open Forum on Intraoperative Awareness and Monitoring

he ASA Committee on Practice Parameters has appointed a Task Force on Intraoperative Awareness and Brain Function Monitoring to develop a practice parameter to assist anesthesiologists and other health care providers on this important issue. To facilitate the development of this practice parameter, the task force is conducting a structured open forum for Association of University Anesthesiologists (AUA) and ASA members to be held at the AUA 2005 Annual Meeting on Friday, May 6, 2005, from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland.

The purpose of the open forum is to provide an opportunity for attendees to present oral and written testimony on the content and impact of this parameter. In particular the task force seeks testimony on clinical issues, resources and feasibility.

The open forum will consist of a slide presentation by members of the task force; during the slide presentation, there will be several structured time-limited opportunities for questions or comments related to the presented material.
