Midwest Anesthesiology
Residents Conference — 2005
Paul W. Kranner, M.D.
he
University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Anesthesiology
hosted the annual Midwest Anesthesiology Residents
Conference on April 1-3, 2005. Held at the Monona
Terrace Convention Center on the shores of Lake
Monona in Madison, Wisconsin, the meeting attracted
more than 500 attendees with nearly 350 resident
abstract presentations divided among the 36 general
and scientific sessions. Participants represented
29 anesthesiology programs from 12 states, once
again making it the country’s largest anesthesiology
resident meeting.
Highlights of this year’s meeting included
an opening presentation by ASA President Eugene
P. Sinclair, M.D., a fascinating lunch presentation
by David Brunson, M.D., of the University of Wisconsin
School of Veterinary Medicine on exotic animal anesthesia,
the addition of workshops in airway management and
oral board preparation, and an early-morning lakeside
“fun run” for a few brave souls.
An enjoyable and educational experience was had
by all, and we look forward to next year’s
meeting in Chicago, Illinois, hosted by the University
of Chicago.
