History Association Resident Essay Contest |

Anesthesia History Association (AHA) sponsors an annual
contest to promote interest in the history of anesthesiology
among resident physicians. To enter the contest, residents
must write a 1,000- to 3,000-word essay on a topic about
the history of anesthesia, pain medicine or critical care
while the author is a resident or fellow or within one year
of completion of residency or fellowship. International
submissions are encouraged. All essays must be written in
English.
The first-place award in this contest is $500. Prizes for
second and third places are $200 and $100. The winners will
be announced and prizes awarded at the AHA’s annual
dinner meeting. That meeting will take place on October
25, 2005, during the ASA Annual Meeting in New Orleans,
Louisiana. Authors of all entries will be encouraged to
submit their essays for possible publication in the AHA’s
quarterly journal Bulletin of Anesthesia History.
The essays must be submitted on or before September
1, 2005. Three paper copies can be mailed or one
electronic copy sent to:
