ABA Announces

ABA Subspecialty Certification Exam
in Critical Care Medicine and Pain Medicine


he American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) will administer examinations for certification in critical care medicine and pain medicine via computer at more than 350 test centers on Saturday, September 9, 2006. ABA will inform candidates of the test sites when the list is available.

All applicants for subspecialty certification must satisfactorily complete one year of training in a critical care medicine or a pain medicine program accredited by the Residency Review Committee for Anesthesiology by August 31, 2006. They also must be certified in anesthesiology by ABA or scheduled for ABA oral examination in 2006.

After December 14, 2005, applicants may use the ABA Web site <www.theABA.org> to submit their application for a subspecialty certification examination electronically. The standard application deadline is February 15, 2006. ABA will consider late applications received by March 15, 2006. Applications received after the late deadline will not be considered.

Exam in Critical Care Medicine and Pain Medicine


he American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) will administer examinations for recertification in critical care medicine and pain medicine via computer at more than 350 test centers from September 16-30, 2006, except Sundays. ABA will inform candidates of the test sites when the list is available. Physicians previously certified in critical care medicine or pain medicine by ABA may apply to recertify in the subspecialty.

After December 14, 2005, applicants may use the ABA Web site <www.theABA.org> to submit their application for a subspecialty recertification examination electronically. The standard application deadline is February 15, 2006. ABA will consider late applications received by March 15, 2006. Applications received after the late deadline will not be considered.
