nesthesiology,
in conjunction with the Foundation for Anesthesia
Education and Research (FAER), is pleased to announce
its 1st annual joint conference to be held at the
ASA 2008 Annual Meeting on Tuesday, October 21,
2008, in Orlando, Florida. The purpose of this session
is to highlight an important and timely topic of
research that has been developed by a previous FAER
awardee, Vesna Jevtovic-Todorovic, M.D., Ph.D.,
Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Neuroscience,
University of Virginia, and James C. Eisenach, M.D.,
Professor of Anesthesiology and Physiology and Pharmacology,
Wake Forest University. Dr. Jevtovic-Todorovic has
pioneered the study of anesthetic effects on the
developing brain, and this session will emphasize
new and innovative research on this topic and its
clinical relevance.
The session format will be an oral abstract presentation
session in conjunction with formal lectures by two
invited international experts. Abstracts for inclusion
in the FAER/journal session will be chosen from
among those submitted for presentation at the ASA
Annual Meeting. Abstract selections will be made
by the session’s organizers; investigators
from around the world with an interest in this subject
are encouraged to submit their work to ASA for the
Annual Meeting. Abstracts from both basic and clinical
sciences are encouraged. Abstracts should be submitted
via the usual online process (which can be accessed
via the Web sites www.ASAhq.org
and www.anesthesiology.org).
Interested individuals should be sure to check the
FAER/journal session box on the abstract submission
form to be considered for inclusion in this special
session. The deadline for abstract submission is
March 31, 2008.
The authors of abstracts that are selected for the
session will also be offered an opportunity to submit
their work to Anesthesiology for inclusion
in the special session issue to be published in
spring 2009.
