Protocol for Election of Officers

1. Applications, CVs and personal/platform statements of eligible candidates received by the ASA Office at least 30 days prior to the annual meeting of the Resident Component House of Delegates (Thursday, September 16, 2010) will be included in the House of Delegates Handbook. Current ASA RC bylaws do not allow for floor nominations of candidates if at least one person is running for that office. Please contact one of the RC Governing Council Members with questions about running for office.

2. The order of elections will be President-Elect, Secretary, AMA Alternate Delegate and Co-Editor. For each election, we will hear a two to five minute speech as set by the President from each candidate for that position, then vote, and go on to the next position.

3. Voting will take place according to the Approval Voting method as per our bylaws. This process allows delegates to vote for more than one candidate in any given election. Please see more details in the “Proceedings” section of the HOD Delegate handbook. Ballots will be collected at the end of each vote. The candidate receiving the most votes shall be elected.

4. The newly inducted President of the ASARC will meet with elected officers after the adjournment of the HOD.
