MIPS Promoting Interoperability Component (formerly Advancing Care Information)

The Promoting Interoperability (PI) component, known as the Advancing Care Information (ACI) component in previous rulemaking, accounts for 25% of an eligible clinician or group practice's composite score. 

ASA has prepared the following resources for members seeking clarification on the requirements of the PI performance category:

MACRA ended the automatic hardship exemption for physician anesthesiologists after the 2016 performance year. However, anesthesiologists may still qualify for an exception from the PI component.
