Funded in part by the ASA Charitable Foundation, the Global Scholars Program brings young, emerging leaders of our specialty from low-resource settings to the ANESTHESIOLOGY annual meeting. Discover their perspectives about the practice of anesthesiology in places where basic monitoring, blood banking, and other resources are lacking. The scholars will have an opportunity to learn about the newest developments in the specialty and build a network of international colleagues with whom they can collaborate for years to come.

In collaboration with the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia, SPA Global is focused on improving anesthesia care for children worldwide. Despite recent advances in the accessibility and affordability of surgery for children in low- and moderate-resource areas, a large need for short-term service activities in many areas of the world remains. Skills in pediatric anesthesia are particularly well-suited to meet these needs when paired with thoughtful service platforms in close cooperation with local health systems.
