Now its fifth year, the ASA Charitable Foundation Global Scholars Program will provide support for young leaders in the specialty from low- and middle-lower income countries to participate in ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2019 in Orlando, Florida. In many of these countries, the anesthesia risk is one thousand times greater than the United States. The training need is enormous; for example, Uganda’s 40 million citizens have access to only 84 physician anesthesiologists.
The program provides an opportunity to support the professional development with fewer resources and the development of the medical specialty of anesthesiology overseas.
