Jeffrey Vender, MD
Topic: Leadership for Today Change for Tomorrow
Dr. Jeffery S. Vender is the Emeritus, Harris Family Foundation Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at NorthShore University Health System in Evanston, Illinois, and a Clinical Professor at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He is a past member of the NorthShore University Health System Faculty Practice Associates Board of Directors, Past Chair of the Medical Executive Committee for the Professional Staff at NorthShore, and previously served on NorthShore's Board of Directors. He served as the Director of the Critical Care Services at Evanston Hospital from 1987-2000 and the Interim Chairman at Northwestern University Department of Anesthesiology from July 1999 until October 2000. In addition to his roles and activities at NorthShore, Dr. Vender has served as the President of the Illinois Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists. Dr. Vender has participated and Chaired numerous state and national committees of various medical organizations, edited several medical texts, published over 125 articles and book chapters, and been an invited lecturer at over 250 national and international meetings covering topics on anesthesiology, critical care, organizational change, and leadership.
Michael Frisina, PhD
Topic: Building Back Trust in Your Organization
Michael Frisina is founder/CEO of The Frisina Group LLC, Elgin, S.C., and The Center for Influential Leadership. He is an author, educator, and consultant specializing in health care leadership and performance improvement. He is also an internationally known speaker and the author of Influential Leadership: Change Your Behavior, Change Your Organization, Change Health Care. Dr. Frisina was previously assistant professor at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and assistant professor at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. He has held administration positions in both military and civilian healthcare systems at various levels of increasing responsibility. Dr. Michael Frisina is a faculty member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
Christopher Glover, MD
Topic: Breaking Down to Build-Up Change Management
Dr. Glover serves as Vice-Chief for Clinical Affairs for the Department of Anesthesiology, Pain, and Perioperative Medicine Service at Texas Children’s Hospital System with primary responsibility for the day-to-day operations of an anesthesia enterprise that spans over 60 locations at three
freestanding children’s hospitals. Nationally, Dr. Glover sits on the American Board of Anesthesiology Professional Development Committee and is the immediate Past President of the Pediatric Craniofacial Collaborative Group. Recipient of multiple awards for clinical and teaching excellence. In his free time, Dr. Glover enjoys snowboarding and being the old man for his 3 sons.
Laura Diaz-Berenstain, MD
Topic: Breaking Down to Build-Up Change Management
Dr. Berenstain is currently an Adjunct Professor of Clinical Anesthesia at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She is a pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist and has recently edited and published Congenital Cardiac Anesthesia: A Case-Based Approach. Laura has traveled worldwide on mission trips teaching physicians how to care for children with complex congenital heart disease. She is also a Physician Career Development and Leadership Coach, as well as a Steering Committee member and coach for the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia's Women's Empowerment and Leadership Initiative. Her other interests include physician wellness and resiliency, and the interplay of professional development and well-being. She is a Mind-Body Medicine facilitator and was the first Director of Resiliency and Well-being in her department. She is incredibly grateful for her three wonderful daughters along with a supportive husband and friends.
