Arizona State Component Vice President Calls for Physician-led Care
In an August 24 KVOA-TV (NBC; Tucson, Arizona) segment regarding an executive order that originally only temporarily allowed anesthesia to be administered without physician supervision in the state due to the pandemic, Heidi Tavel, MD, FASA, vice president of the Arizona Society of Anesthesiologists, discussed why the opt-out is not good for patient care. “As a physician anesthesiologist, I cannot see any benefit to the opt-out for patients in Arizona, it only brings up patient safety concerns,” Dr. Tavel said.
