Mary Dale Peterson, M.D., MSHCA, FACHE, FASA, was quoted in an article, which looked at a study that found childbirth hospitalizations produced the most surprise medical bills. The article noted how the No Surprises Act will benefit patients, but questioned its overall impact on health care providers and insurers. “Anesthesiologists must be able to negotiate fair payment for their work based on commercial rates, regardless of whether or not they are in network,” Dr. Peterson said.
