ASA members write on importance of creating a culture of safety, communication in health care on KevinMD.com
In the article, Karolina Brook, M.D., Aalok Agarwala, M.D., FASA, and Emily Methangkool, M.D., wrote about the importance of developing health care environments where “speaking up,” or raising concerns about patient safety, is intended to refocus attention on the patient and their wellbeing, rather than being an attempt to place blame on a care team member. “Environments that promote psychological safety and encourage speaking up are critical for maintaining patient safety,” they wrote.
