The American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) announced its 2014 Power of A Award winners, including two affiliated organizations of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA).
The ASA Global Humanitarian Outreach (GHO) program received the Power of A Gold Award, one of the top honors from ASAE. GHO was honored for contributing to the betterment of the world through education on the global anesthesia crisis and supporting low income countries to improve anesthesia care.
ASA was also honored with a Power of A Silver Award for the Anesthesia Quality Institute (AQI), the Society’s patient safety organization and Qualified Clinical Data Registry. AQI aggregates and summarizes data at the national level to demonstrate steady gains in patient safety, including through the National Anesthesia Clinical Outcomes Registry (NACOR).
“We are proud to say ASA is affiliated with organizations that are improving anesthesia safety in the U.S. and around the world,” said ASA President Jane C.K. Fitch, M.D. “Physician anesthesiologists have been on the forefront of innovations in patient safety, and GHO and AQI embody the vision of improved quality care on national and global levels.”
ASAE’s Power of A Awards, the industry’s highest honor, recognize the association community’s valuable contributions on the local, national and global level. The Power of A Awards reward outstanding accomplishments of associations and industry professionals for their efforts to enrich lives, create a competitive workforce, prepare society for the future, drive innovation and make a better world.
“ASA’s GHO and AQI programs are great examples of the transformative impact associations have on society,” said ASAE President and CEO John H. Graham IV, CAE. “Congratulations to ASA for identifying the needs of patients and putting their resources to work in a way that profoundly improves people’s lives.”
