The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) today announced the selection of Roseanne Fischoff, M.P.P., as PSH executive. Most recently, Fischoff served as director of science, quality and practice at the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD).
“As we look to begin our second PSH learning collaborative and build on its successes, Fischoff’s critical experience will be invaluable as we move toward our goal of achieving the triple aim of better health, better health care at less costs with the PSH,” said ASA CEO Paul Pomerantz.
The PSH is an innovative patient-centered, physician-led, multidisciplinary team-based model of coordinated care. In the PSH, a patient’s entire surgical experience – preoperative, intraoperative and post-discharge – is fully coordinated and treated as a continuum of care. The PSH model
emphasizes the cost-efficient use of resources as well as lead physician, multi-specialty team and patient shared decision-making.
As PSH executive, Fischoff will develop and implement policies and operating structure to advance the PSH as a viable model of care. Additionally, she will serve as a catalyst for innovation in the development of products and services to support ASA members engaged in redefining the future of the specialty through the PSH. She will also direct ASA’s second PSH learning collaborative working with Premier, Inc., which will launch in November.
For the past four years at the American Academy of Dermatology, Fischoff strategically directed the development and dissemination of guidelines and appropriate use criteria, identification and development of practice management resources and the creation of a culture of quality within dermatology through the development of performance/outcome measures, patient safety resources and access to care tools, including the Academy’s telemedicine platform. Prior to her work at the Academy, Fischoff spent eight years at the American Medical Association where she managed the AMA Specialty Society/RVS Update Committee (RUC) recommendation process including the development of more than 1,800 recommendations for physician work, practice expense and professional liability insurance with an exceptionally high acceptance rate from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
She holds a Master of Public Policy, Health Care Policy Concentration, Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago, Chicago, Illinois. Fischoff’s first day at ASA will be Nov. 11, 2015. In this position, Fischoff will report to ASA CEO Paul Pomerantz.
