SAN FRANCISCO – The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) will host the
Run For The Warriors® 5K Run/Walk at 7 a.m. on Sunday, October 14, at Mission Creek Park in San Francisco. The race coincides with the
ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2018 annual meeting and marks ASA’s ninth consecutive year of sponsorship.
All proceeds from the San Francisco race will benefit Hope For The Warriors®, a national nonprofit organization that strives to unify civilian and military communities by honoring and embracing local service members and their families.
“The military community and their families have sacrificed greatly for our country and our freedom. Through Hope for the Warriors, ASA has been able to express its gratitude to those who have served for nearly a decade,” said ASA President James D. Grant, M.D., M.B.A., FASA. “The Run For The Warriors event has become an integral part of the ANESTHESIOLOGY annual meeting and we look forward to continuing the tradition in the years to come.”
The Run For The Warriors race series gives wounded service members encouragement and the opportunity to pursue running, walking or adaptive cycling to assist in their physical and emotional rehabilitation. The race will start and finish at Mission Creek Park, with turnaround options for either a one-mile or 5K course. Registration is $25.
“Restoring self, family and HOPE to our country’s post 9/11 veterans isn’t something that’s done alone; it’s about building a community of support,” said Emma Walsh, Hope For The Warriors chief impact officer. “Our success as an organization in helping warriors and their families depends on supporters like the ASA, who take an active role in our programs, such as the Run For The Warriors series.”
