Representative Dave Camp (R-MI) has been selected by Republicans to be chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee in the new Republican-controlled 112th Session (2011-2012) of Congress. The Ways and Means Committee has significant jurisdiction over healthcare related issues including Medicare Parts A and B.
Representative Camp’s selection to chair the Ways and Means Committee in addition to Representative Fred Upton’s (R-MI) selection as chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee makes the state of Michigan a power center for health related issues in the House.
