Meaningful Use Deadline Extended to 2014

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius extended the electronic health records (EHR) compliance deadline for Stage 2 “Meaningful Use” until 2014 for all providers who qualify as Stage 1 meaningful users in 2011.
 
ASA, along with others, advocated extending the meaningful use deadline and ASA continues to intensively lobby the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) on modifying meaningful use requirements for anesthesiologists.
