On November 30, 2012, the House Republican Caucus released many of their committee assignments including assignments for the key health care-related committees -- Energy and Commerce and Ways and Means. At the time of publication, the Democrat Caucus has not released their committee assignments.
Additionally, both parties have determined their leadership for the 113th Congress. While many of the leaders remain the same, there are several new faces including three who participated in site visits with ASA members in the last two years—one of which, Rep. Lynn Jenkins (R-KS), sponsored Rural Pass-Through legislation.
The 113th Congress formally begins on January 3, 2013 and will be comprised of 234 Republicans and 201 Democrats.

Committee on Energy and Commerce
Representative Fred Upton (R-MI) will continue to Chair the House Energy and Commerce Committee. The Committee Vice-Chair will now be Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN). The Energy and Commerce Committee is tasked with legislative oversight for commercial interests including health related items such as public health and the Food and Drug Administration.
Rep. Joe Pitts (R-PA) will continue to serve as Health Subcommittee Chairman and Rep. Michael Burgess, M.D. (R-TX) will continue to serve as Vice Chair.
Rep. Tim Murphy (R-PA) will Chair the Committee’s Oversight Subcommittee and Rep. Michael Burgess, M.D. (R-TX) will serve as Vice Chair. The Energy and Commerce Committee press release noted that "Burgess is a physician with extensive oversight experience who will play a significant role in the continued oversight of the Affordable Care Act."
In addition to its existing members returning to Congress for the 113th Session, the committee added five new members:

Committee on Ways and Means
Representative Dave Camp (R-MI) will continue to Chair the House Ways and Means Committee. The committee is tasked with handling all revenue-related bills in Congress. The committee also has oversight of major entitlement programs including Medicare.
