On July 11, ASA responded to the most recent request for feedback from the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce regarding their proposal to repeal and replace the Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula. This letter represents the ASA's fourth set of formal comments submitted to the Committee.
ASA highlighted concerns that the "current draft leaves unresolved key issues for anesthesiologists,” including how some of most important components of the payment reform will be set.
ASA remains committed to repealing and replacing the flawed SGR formula with a system that more accurately reflects the cost of providing care to Medicare patients.
