On Wednesday, January 25, ASA Vice President for Professional Affairs, Stanley Stead, M.D., M.B.A., presented at a Capitol Hill briefing “Value-based care: its progress, its future.”
On the panel, Dr. Stead spoke about the Perioperative Surgical Home model of care and how it can improve quality and reduce cost. The briefing, which had a full audience of Hill staff and industry experts, was timed with a letter on behalf of a group of medical groups and providers to the Trump Administration urging a continued focus on value-based, patient-centered payment models that incent healthcare innovation.
Dr. Stead was joined on the panel by the Honorable Michael Leavitt, former Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HSS), Kevin Klobucar, Executive Vice President of Health Care Value at Blue Cross Blue Shield Michigan, Nick Turkal, M.D., President and CEO of Aurora Health Care, Bill Kramer, Executive Director of National Policy for the Pacific Business Group on Health, and Blair Childs, Senior Vice President of Public Affairs and Premier, Inc.
