This week, Peter O’Rourke, the Acting Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, announced that Richard Stone, M.D., a former Deputy Surgeon General of the U.S. Army and Deputy Commanding General of Support for the U.S. Army MEDCOM, will be the latest Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Health and Executive-in-Charge of Veterans Health Administration.
Mr. Stone returns to the VA after working in the private sector as a consultant. Previously, he served in this same position from February of 2016 to March of 2017.
Mr. Stone fills this position with the reassignment of Ms. Carolyn Clancy, M.D., a veteran of the Department, to a new position that will focus on innovations within the VHA.
ASA looks forward to working with Dr. Clancy in her new role, and to working with Principal Deputy Under Secretary Stone as we continue to protect safe anesthesia care for our Nation’s veterans.
Your ASA physician leaders and staff will keep you updated on the latest in leadership in the Department.
