ASA is extremely disappointed by Congress’ failure to act to stop the full Medicare payment cut, and continues to urge all members of Congress to step forward to fix this flawed payment system. Congress recently passed a government funding package with “doc fix” provisions that fail to block the fourth straight year of Medicare payment cuts to physicians. The provisions only reduce the size of the 2024 payment cut by about half, leaving physician practices with unsustainable payment cuts. Fundamental reforms are essential for the sustainability of anesthesiologists’ practices.
