ASA Urges Congress to Protect Student Loan Programs

The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA), along with other leading medical organizations, called on Congress to safeguard critical financial aid programs that support medical students and residents. In a recent formal communication to congressional leaders, ASA urged lawmakers to protect the Grad PLUS program, preserve full access to Unsubsidized Direct Loan borrowing, and protect eligibility for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. These programs ensure aspiring physicians have the financial resources necessary to complete their education and continue serving their communities. Without these vital programs, many students could face increased financial barriers to entering the medical field, impacting access to care nationwide.
