ASA Co-Leads Coalition to Urge Senate Action on Medicare Payment Reform
This week, a powerful coalition of 75 national medical organizations sent a
formal request to U.S. Senate leaders urging the inclusion of House-passed Medicare physician payment provisions in the Senate reconciliation package.
The House-passed provisions would tie future physician payment updates to a partial Medicare Economic Index update starting in 2026 and are an important first step in formally recognizing the annual cost of inflation in Medicare physician fees.
The communication urges leaders to include the House-passed provisions in the Senate version, which are currently not included, and demonstrates extraordinary consensus in the clinician community. Without this fix, access to care for seniors, individuals with disabilities, and underserved communities is at risk.
