ASA Joins National Effort to Support Vaccination Against Respiratory Viruses

The American Society of Anesthesiologists joined nearly 80 medical societies to reaffirm support for vaccinations as the best way to protect against respiratory viruses and their potentially serious complications. 

The announcement coincides with this week’s meeting of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and amid recent changes to federal immunization review processes.

The statement calls on healthcare partners to protect patient access to recommended vaccines and to recommit to clear, evidence-based immunization guidance, ahead of a potential resurgence of respiratory illnesses this fall.
