QPP: What ASA Is Doing For You

ASA actively advocates on behalf of anesthesiologists to shape the Quality Payment Program, reduce administrative burden, and ensure fair, clinically relevant quality measures. Through direct engagement with CMS and collaboration with national specialty organizations, ASA works to improve reporting pathways and payment policies.

ASA’s advocacy efforts include:

• Submitting formal comments to CMS on annual QPP and Medicare Physician Fee Schedule rules, addressing measure applicability, scoring methodology, and reporting burden.
• Collaborating with specialty societies and coalitions to advocate for improvements to MIPS, MVPs, and other value-based payment models.
• Supporting anesthesiology-specific reporting through the AQI NACOR Registry, enabling clinicians to meet QPP requirements and benchmark performance.
