Expanded, collaborative program and new location make SEN Summit a must-attend event in 2020
Examine how simulation can be used to enhance and improve communication and performance in the operative environment during a new team-focused session held by the American College of Surgeons and ASA on Friday, March 13 from 8 a.m.–12 p.m. at the Swissotel Chicago, conveniently located a block away from the Fairmont. A special Keynote Address will be delivered by Julie A. Freischlag, M.D., FACS, FRCS, ED (Hon), DFSVS, chief executive officer of Wake Forest Baptist Health and dean of Wake Forest School of Medicine, titled "Trust Between Teams in the Operating Room to Ensure the Best Outcome for our Patients and Ourselves." The session will feature a Reactor Panel with David L. Feldman, M.D., M.B.A., CPE, FAAPL, FACS, chief medical officer, and Darrell B. Ranum, J.D., CPHRM, vice president of patient safety and risk management, both from the nation's largest physician-owned medical malpractice insurer, The Doctors Company. The panel will be followed by interactive breakout exercises to engage all participants. This collaborative session, new for 2020, is not to be missed!
Implementable action plans for your program
SEN Summit is a forum for all individuals involved in simulation training of anesthesiologists, including directors of endorsed programs, those in the application process and other anesthesiology simulation experts. The program allows active participants to:
- Identify best practices for MOCA® courses and set future goals for the SEN
- Share experiences about OSCE preparation for residents
- Acquire reports on pertinent topics by the ASA, ABA and SEN leadership
- Gain new knowledge during topical presentations and networking opportunities
Program Update / COVID-19
After closely monitoring developments related to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and assessing its current and potential impact, the American Society of Anesthesiologists, together with the American College of Surgeons, have decided to reschedule the Simulation Education Network Summit 2020.
The health and well-being of our members, employees, partners, and others who help us host these events is our top priority. While this is not an easy decision, we believe it is in the best interest of all parties. Thank you for understanding this unique situation and we apologize for any inconvenience.
ASA will refund your meeting registration fee. You will receive a separate email with confirmation of the refund. It may take 10-14 business for the refund to process.
Please contact the Fairmont Chicago Hotel, Millennium Park at 312-565-8000 as soon as possible to cancel your hotel reservations. If canceled 72 hours prior to your arrival date, there should be no penalty. The hotel is aware and informed of this situation.
