ASA President’s Op-ed on Medicare Cuts Published in The Hill

In a November 21 op-ed, Beverly Philip, MD, FACA, FASA, detailed how the drastic cuts Medicare has proposed to payment rates for hospital-based providers in 2021 could hurt health care quality. “With this proposed decrease in payment rates, hospitals with a higher Medicare-payer mix will have to figure out a way to cut corners, potentially with decreased staffing which we believe will affect the quality of care to seniors in the U.S.,” Dr. Philip wrote.
