Crystal Wright, MD, FASA, chair of ASA’s Committee on Professional Diversity, spoke to CBS-TV in Atlanta in a February 16 segment regarding two studies presented at ANESTHESIOLOGY® 2020 that found minority children are less likely to have much-needed surgery and more likely to die after surgical complications that require an unplanned additional operation than white children. “We want all children to have access to quality care. I am hopeful that we’ll find solutions,” Dr. Wright said.
