ASA’s Efforts Lead to CMS Base Unit Value Correction for Code 00797

Earlier this year, ASA identified a CMS error in the value for code 00797 and vigorously pursued a correction. This code was re-evaluated as part of last year’s Five Year Review and CMS had agreed to increase its base unit value to 11 units. CMS had not included this increase when it issued the 2007 Medicare Fee Schedule. CMS has corrected this mistake by adding three base units for a total of 11 base units. The correction is retroactive to Jan 1, 2007.
