ASA submitted a request for revision or removal of certain CCI edits implemented in Version 15.1 (effective April 1, 2009) including changes that link pain management procedures with placement of invasive monitoring lines.
We have received notification that these edits will be revised to allow separate reporting – when appropriate. According to the letter:
“The changes will appear in NCCI version 15.3 scheduled for October 1, 2009 and will be retroactive to the implementation date of edits, April 1, 2009. Providers may choose to delay submitting claims for the affected services until after that date. If claims have been denied based on the edits that will be deleted or modified on October 1, 2009, the providers may resubmit the claims or appeal the denials after this date.”
