CMS Announces Educational Series for the Electronic Health Record EHR Incentive Program

ASA members are invited to participate in the recently announced educational programs to learn more about the EHR incentive program, which provides financial incentives in the near-term, and financial penalties beginning in 2015, to encourage the adoption and meaningful use of electronic health records.

Several questions still remain about how these new rules will apply to anesthesiologists’ use of their unique EHRs, known as anesthesia information management systems (AIMS). Therefore, these educational sessions will be a good opportunity for members to pose questions to CMS officials about the impact of these rules on anesthesia.
