ASA Joins With Surgical Community to Oppose OSHA Involvement in Residency Hours Debate
The ASA joined with 19 other organizations in the Surgical Coalition on a letter sent to Assistant Secretary for Occupational Safety and Health David Michaels, Ph.D., M.P.H. opposing Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) involvement in the resident duty hours issue. The letter written in response to a petition filed by Public Citizen and other parties to OSHA, expresses adamant opposition to any additional regulatory intervention from OSHA, or any other entity, which would jeopardize the integrity of physician education.
