At 1 p.m. today, the U.S. House passed the 12-month fix to the Sustainable Growth Rate (SGR) formula passed by the U.S. Senate last night. The fix halts a 25 percent cut to the Medicare physician payments set to occur January 1. In addition to the $19.2 billion SGR fix,“ The Medicare and Medicaid Extenders Act of 2010” also includes an extension of the work geographic cost index floor of 1.0. The package now heads to President Barack Obama for his signature. Late yesterday, the president released a statement supporting the 12-month fix.
