House Republicans have announced they will vote on full repeal of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) on Wednesday, January 19. Debate on the legislation will occur on Tuesday, January 18. This vote was postponed from January 12 after the tragic shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson, Arizona. On Thursday, Republicans plan to bring up their bill instructing the committees to draft replacement legislation.
The legislation to repeal PPACA is expected to pass the Republican-controlled House, but is unlikely to pass the Democratic–controlled Senate. President Barack Obama has vowed to veto this repeal legislation if it reaches his desk.
