Open the door for elected officials to see the exciting world of anesthesiology by hosting a site visit. The most effective way to advocate for anesthesiology is to show policymakers the important work anesthesiologists do each and every day. That is why as part of the 2011 Advocacy Involvement Challenge, the ASA Grassroots Network is encouraging members to host a lawmaker or his/her staff for a site visit. So far this year, five ASA members have already hosted a legislator or his/her staff.
To assist in the process of hosting a site visit, the Committee on Governmental Affairs has created a Hosting a Site Visit Guide. In addition, ASA members can email [email protected] or call 202-289-2222 with any questions concerning how to host a site visit.
In addition, Dr. Mark Brady has provided a firsthand account of his successful site visit with Representative Kevin Yoder (R-KS). Click here to read his account.
Remember, hosting a site visit it is worth five points towards the Advocacy Involvement Challenge. Those individuals who complete tasks totaling ten points will receive an award and recognition at the ANESTHESIOLOGY 2011.
