Shortly before the winter recess, Congress passed a temporary extension of two months for H.R. 3630, legislation focused on preserving the Medicare Sustainable Growth Rate's (SGR) so-called "doc-fix," extending the payroll tax cut and maintaining unemployment benefits. This temporary extension will expire on February 28. In an effort to reach agreement on a longer term package, bipartisan and bicameral representatives have recently been meeting in a conference committee. The committee will meet for the fourth time on Tuesday as they continue to seek resolution on a payroll tax cut extension, extended unemployment insurance and SGR relief.
ASA will continue to monitor the legislation to inform members of key developments and advocate on member's behalf.
