On August 24, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the final rule that officially delays the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Edition diagnosis and procedure codes (ICD-10) compliance date from October 1, 2013 to October 1, 2014.
ASA supported this proposal to postpone the ICD-10 transition until October 1, 2014.
We believe this additional time is necessary to help a smoother changeover and are pleased to see that CMS concurred.
