The Joint Commission (TJC) appointed ASA member Rebecca Patchin, M.D., chair of the Board of Commissioners for the 2013 term. TJC is one of the leading accrediting bodies for health care organizations and programs in the United States.
Dr. Patchin is a former nurse who is an anesthesiologist and a pain management specialist out of Riverside, California. She is also an assistant professor of anesthesiology at Loma Linda University School of Medicine and a Director at the Norcal Mutual Insurance Company.
Over the years, Dr. Patchin has served in a number of leadership roles in medical organizations including, but not limited to, serving as Chair of the Board of Trustees for the American Medical Association, a member of the board of both the California Society of Anesthesiologists (CSA) and the California Medical Association (CMA), and chair of the AMA Council on Medical Education.
