Lee Fleisher, M.D. and Gerald Maccioli, M.D. were recently appointed to the American Medical Association (AMA)-convened Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement® (PCPI®) Quality Improvement Advisory Committee (QIAC). The QIAC advises the AMA-PCPI’s Executive Committee on matters related to improving the quality, safety, and efficiency of the health care delivery systems.
An active ASA member for over 25 years, Dr. Fleisher has been a leading voice in advancing the practice of anesthesiology and providing critical insight into improving patient care, facilitating measure development, and supporting ASA quality improvement activities. He currently serves as the Robert Dunning Dripps Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine and is a current member of the National Quality Forum's Consensus Standards Approval Committee (CSAC).
Dr. Maccioli, a practicing anesthesiologist and intensivist for more than 25 years, has contributed his expertise to ASA and its members by serving on more than a dozen ASA committees. Of note, Dr. Maccioli chaired the Committee on Critical Care Medicine and has served as Section Chair of Education and Research. He has represented North Carolina on the ASA Board of Directors since 2001. Dr. Maciolli is also a member of the ASA PCPI Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine workgroup. He currently serves as Chair of the Quality Assurance & Performance Measures Committee at American Anesthesiology of North Carolina.
