Wisconsin Governor Signs Physician Apology Legislation

On April 8, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker (R) signed into law legislation (2013 Wisconsin Act 242 ) prohibiting the inclusion of a health care provider’s apology in a related future lawsuit or administrative hearing. 

The Wisconsin Society of Anesthesiologists supported this measure (Assembly Bill 120), which was introduced in the Senate and Assembly to coincide with Wisconsin’s 2014 Doctors Day at the Capital.
