Quality data that anesthesiologists report or fail to report this year will have an impact on their Medicare payments in 2016. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is hosting a webinar on September 17 to discuss how eligible professionals (EPs) such as physician anesthesiologists and group practices (GPs) can avoid 2016 negative payment adjustments.
You must register to listen and participate in this National Provider Call.
The Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), EHR Incentive Program and the Value-Based Payment Modifier (VM) will be discussed during the call. EPs who do not avoid the 2016 PQRS payment adjustment as well as non-participants in PQRS may incur a 2.0 percent downward adjustment for 2016 and an additional a 2.0 percent negative payment adjustment for the VM. Anesthesiologists have an automatic hardship exemption from the EHR Incentive Program and are protected from incurring a downward payment adjustment for that program.
The provider call is scheduled for Wednesday, September 17, 2014 from 1:30 – 3 p.m. (EDT). CMS will distribute a slide presentation prior to the event and participants are encouraged to participate in the question and answer session.
