CMS Announces Migration of IACS Services to EIDM
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced a transition from the Individuals Authorized Access to CMS Computer Services (IACS) system, through which providers gain access to their provider statistic and reimbursement reports (PS&R), to an existing CMS system called Enterprise Identity Management (EIDM). This change will impact all provider types that utilize IACS, including participants in Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS). The system update is scheduled to take effect July 13, 2015.
EIDM users can access the PQRS Portal, retrieve submission reports, view feedback reports, and conduct various administrative and maintenance activities. Although CMS has indicated that the transition for existing IACS accounts should be seamless, it is important to note the following items:
- You do not need to create a new EIDM account if you have an existing PQRS IACS account. Existing PQRS IACS users, their data, and roles will automatically be transitioned to EIDM and will be accessible from the ‘PQRS Portal’ section of the CMS Enterprise Portal.
- Security questions and answers from IACS accounts will not be transitioned to EIDM. New security questions must be created the first time the user logs into the EIDM account.
- All users are encouraged to verify they know the password and log in information to their IACS account prior to the transition.
- Any changes made to an existing IACS account since January 30, 2015, at 5:00 p.m. will not transition to the new EIDM account.
