OIG Issues Report on Incorrect Place of Service Codes on Claims

A recent report from the Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS-OIG) has found that improper reporting of Place of Service on claims for physician services has resulted in potential overpayments totaling  approximately $33.4 million for services performed from January 2010 to September 2012.  OIG audits often result in increased scrutiny of claims.  Anesthesiologists and pain physicians can use the information found in this Timely Topic article to help ensure that they are correctly reporting place of service on the claims they submit
