The American Society of Anesthesiologists® (ASA) congratulates ASA member Michael Simon, M.D., M.B.A., for his appointment to The Joint Commission (TJC) Board of Commissioners by the American Medical Association’s Board of Trustees. The TJC Board of Commissioners provides leadership and oversight to TJC, one of the leading accrediting bodies for health care organizations and programs in the United States.
Dr. Simon’s experience includes over twenty years leading anesthesia departments and serving on several local clinical improvement, technology and surgical services committees. Between 2006 and 2013, Dr. Simon served as AMA Representative to The Joint Commission Hospital Professional Technical Advisory Committee (PTAC). He served as chair of PTAC from 2011 through 2013. Dr. Simon currently sits on several ASA committees and has also contributed to Anesthesia Quality Institute (AQI) committees and quality initiatives.
Dr. Simon’s term on the TJC Board of Commissioners begins on January 1, 2016 and extends through December 2018.
