ASA congratulates Dr. Jim Moore, Chair of the ASA Committee on Performance and Outcomes Measurement (CPOM), on his recent appointment to the Yale New Haven Health Services Corporation Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (Yale/CORE) Technical Expert Panel (TEP) on the “Development of Inpatient Outcome Measures for the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS).” According to Yale/CORE, the TEP “will provide input on approaches to measure attribution that could apply to multiple measures and help shape the approach to one or two specific measures on a full range of measure specifications, including attribution, cohort, and risk adjustment.”
TEPs are often composed of members from a variety of medical specialties as well as patients. Nominations to such TEPs is often a competitive process. Yale/CORE is one of just a handful of measure stewards contracted by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to develop, refine and maintain quality and cost measures for use in MIPS. ASA routinely nominates members to TEPs throughout the year.
